    Description

Aeonium ‘Cyclops’ is so named for its great size and the green eye at the center of this giant red aeonium. New emerging green foliage surrounded by dramatic dark burgundy leaves form a giant 18 inch rosette at the top of a tall stem. Cone-shaped clusters of bright yellow star-shaped flowers rise above the foliage in late summer through fall. Full sun only in coastal or cooler climates. Provide partial shade in hot climates. Dormancy period can occur in hot summer months; reduce water during this time. Prune to remove the stem after it has flowered. Looks great in the California landscape planted in mass, in containers, or planted with other succulents of contrasting colors for maximum effect in the garden. Low maintenance. Low water requirements. High impact.

    Plant care

Aeoniums are winter growers and may go dormant in hot, dry summers. During dormancy, the rosettes may reduce size as the basal leaves drop and the remaining leaves curl inward; reduce water during this time. Full sun only in coastal or cooler climates. Provide partial shade in hot climates. Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a deep root system. Water sparingly during the winter months. Provide lean, loose, well-drained, sandy soil. After flowering, the rosette surrounding the flowers dies back after it has bloomed out. Prune to remove the stem after it has flowered.
