The magnificent Sequoia sempervirens 'Soquel', a California native, is known for its elegant form and adaptability. Its reddish-brown bark, soft, thick, fibrous, and fire-resistant, contributes to the Redwood’s iconic name. While Sequoias can tower to impressive heights in their natural habitat, in cultivation, these regal giants grow smaller, typically 60-90 ft. tall.

'Soquel', a cultivar known for its fast-growing, pyramid-shaped form, features compact, upswept branches adorned with dense, flat, needle-like leaves. The foliage emerges as a vibrant light green in spring, deepening to a rich dark green over the growing season. Perfect for adding height, structure, and grandeur to landscapes, the Soquel Redwood tree is an excellent choice for coastal gardens or any space seeking a bold, yet tranquil presence. Versatile, it can be planted as a hedge, creating a living wall of greenery, or in groves.

How big does a Soquel Coast Redwood get?
This redwood can grow 60–100 feet tall in landscapes and much taller in ideal natural conditions. It forms a straight trunk with a symmetrical, pyramidal crown.
How fast does it grow?
Soquel Coast Redwoods grow quickly—often 3 to 5 feet per year when young. With proper care, they establish rapidly and create an impressive canopy.
What kind of sunlight and soil does it prefer?
It grows best in full sun to partial shade and prefers deep, well-drained soil with regular moisture. Mulching around the base helps keep roots cool and moist.
How much water does a Soquel Coast Redwood need?
Water deeply and regularly, especially during the first few years. Mature trees benefit from consistent soil moisture but can tolerate short dry periods once established.
