    Description

20th Century Pear is a lovely fruit tree known for its large, juicy pears, which are ideal for eating fresh or cooking with. The 20th Century Asian Pear tree is a hybrid of two other Asian Pear varieties, and is also known as Nijisseiki.

Asian pears are generally round in shape, with a crisp, gritty, firm to hard texture and are often called apple pears because of their roundness and crispness. '20th Century' is a medium-sized, apple-shaped fruit with medium, yellowish-green skin. The creamy-white flesh is firm and juicy and good for fresh eating or canning.

The 20th Century Asian Pear tree is easy to grow. Well-known for its disease resistance, good fruit productivity, heat tolerance, cold hardiness, and drought resistance, 20th Century pear is an excellent choice in the garden for both novice and experienced gardeners in climates with colder winters where the lower temperatures help with fruit production.

The 20th Century Asian Pear is a small deciduous tree that only grows 12-15 feet tall and wide and will make an excellent addition to your garden. The 20th Century is a heavy bearing Asian pear - just harvest the fruit in late summer and enjoy its sweet and juicy flavor. Order now and get started on your own backyard orchard!

    Plant Care

It is critical to choose a location with well-drained soil and full sun when planting your 20th Century Asian pear tree. The tree should be planted at the same depth it was in the container, with at least 15-20 feet of space in circumference to grow. Water regularly during the first year to aid the tree in establishing a strong root system, frequency should be cut back once established.

Regular watering and fertilization are essential for the care of your 20th Century Asian pear tree. Water the tree on a regular basis, especially during dry periods, to keep the soil consistently moist. Fertilize with Gardner & Bloome 8-4-2 Organic Citrus & Fruit Tree and follow instructions on the package. Regularly prune the tree to remove dead or diseased wood and shape it as desired.

Within 3-5 years of planting, your 20th century Asian pear tree should bear fruit. The pear tree bears medium to large-sized fruit that is ready to pick in late summer to early fall. The fruit is crisp with a sweet, juicy flavor. This tree, in addition to producing delicious fruit, can also be used as an attractive landscape feature due to its glossy green leaves and delicate white flowers.
