Description

Asian pears are generally round in shape, with a crisp, gritty, firm to hard texture and are often called apple pears because of their roundness and crispness. '20th Century' is a medium-sized, round fruit with thin, yellowish-green skin. The creamy-white flesh is firm and juicy. Good for fresh eating and canning. Fruit stores through December. Ripens in late July to mid-August. Requires 400 chill hours.

Plant Care

Prefers to be planted in full sun in well-draining soil. Water regularly during the first year to aid the plant in establishing a strong root system, frequency should be cut back once established. Fertilize before the flowers emerge and remove dead wood and prune to maintain the desired size. In Spring, thin out the crop to prevent early fruit drop and overbearing.
