This aptly named evergreen shrub grows as a carpet of silver-blue foliage to only six inches tall in virtually any soil type. Juniperus horizontalis 'Wiltonii' ('Blue Rug') can be used as a low-profile groundcover for large plantings or in front of taller shrubs. Blue Rug Juniper also looks great in a rock garden or raised bed, spilling over rocks or edges.

Plant care

Grows best in sandy soil with good drainage. Water regularly after planting until roots are established then reduce frequency and water as needed.
