Description

Phoenix roebelenii can be planted as solitary or multiple trunks and grows slowly to about 10 feet tall with a dense crown of elegantly arching fine-textured bright green fronds. Pygmy Date Palm tolerates full sun and drought in coastal gardens but requires partial shade and moderate irrigation inland. This small elegant palm is often grown as an indoor plant but looks great in patio containers or in mild climate landscapes.

Plant care

Requires rich, well-drained soil. Water regularly after planting until roots are established. Some drought tolerance, but better with moderate irrigation. Leaf stems are armed with spines, use protective eyewear when pruning out old brown leaves.
