    Description

Pink Lady Apple Tree (also known as Cripps Pink) is a self-fruitful, dessert apple variety celebrated for its crisp texture, sweet-tart flavor, and an effervescent finish, reminiscent of sparkling cider in every bite. Recognizable by its vibrant reddish-pink skin, the white flesh resists browning, making it an ideal choice for fresh eating.

This modern apple, Malus domestica 'Cripps Pink', was developed in Western Australia from a cross between Golden Delicious and Lady Williams. It thrives in hot climates, requiring 300-400 chill hours and a long growing period. Strong autumn sunlight is crucial for developing its signature pink coloration.

Pink Lady apples mature later than most varieties. In California, fall harvest begins in late October, about three weeks after Fuji. The fruit has a long storage life, and its quality improves as the tree matures. The Pink Lady apple tree is moderately vigorous, with large leaves, and retains its foliage well into winter.

    Plant Care

Prefers loamy and moist soil with good drainage. Water regularly during the first year to aid the plant in establishing a strong root system, frequency should be cut back once established. Fertilize in the early spring before the flowers emerge and remove dead wood and prune to maintain the desired size. In late Spring, thin out the crop to prevent early fruit drop and overbearing.
