Kellogg Garden Organics Palm, Cactus, & Citrus All Purpose Indoor & Outdoor Mix can be added to your native soil as an amendment or it can be used straight out of the bag as a potting mix. It provides the right balance between moisture retention and drainage to meet the particular needs of palms, cacti, and similar plants. It also provides nutrients to help your plants develop a strong root system.
What soil conditions and characteristics does the mix offer?
It absorbs water quickly, drains well, and is suitable for both in-ground and container planting. It features a pH in the approximate range of 6.0 to 7.3.
How much area or how many plants does one 1 cu ft bag cover?
One one-cubic-foot bag will roughly fill three 10-inch diameter pots or provide enough medium for about three one-gallon plants when used in containers.
How should I use or apply this mix (in-ground vs container)?
For containers use it directly. For in-ground plantings, especially in heavier or poorly-drained soils, blend the mix with some of the native soil to improve root zone drainage and structure.
What are potential cautions or things to watch out for?
Avoid planting in areas with persistent standing water or extremely poor drainage, they defeat the mix’s design. Don’t assume high moisture retention; these plants still prefer moderate watering and good drainage.
