Euonymus japonicus 'Microphyllus' (E. j. pulchellus)
Euonymus japonicus 'Microphyllus' is a compact, small-leafed variety of Euonymus that grows slowly to only 1-2 feet tall and 1 ft. wide over 10 years. This small, evergreen shrub has dense, glossy, dark green leaves that are held tightly along the stems and tolerates shearing. A good alternative to dwarf boxwood, Green Boxleaf Euonymus is well-suited for use as a low hedge or in a border, and suits any garden style, formal or casual. Grows well in heat and poor soils. Tolerates coastal exposure.
Prefers loamy and moist soil with good drainage. Water regularly during the first year to aid the plant in establishing a strong root system, frequency can be cut back once established. Fertilize while it's still dormant and right before new growth starts in the Spring. Prune to shape.
