Description

Gardenia jasminoides 'August Beauty' (G. augusta) is a rounded, evergreen shrub and a prolific spring bloomer with large, sweetly fragrant, velvety white flowers backed by lustrous green foliage. Useful as a low hedge, screen, or accent.

Plant Care

Plant in slightly acidic, loamy, well-draining soil in sheltered areas. The roots are sensitive and care should be taken during planting to not harm them. Water regularly during the first year to aid the plant in establishing a strong root system, frequency can be cut back once established. Mulch will help keep the roots cool. After its flowering period, give it an acid fertilizer.
