Red Trumpet Vine

Distictis buccinatoria, a fast-growing, evergreen vine, puts on an amazing flower display in summer, covering fences, high walls or arbors with a profusion of red blooms. Clusters of showy, long-lasting, blood-red, trumpet-shaped flowers with yellow throats attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. Red Trumpet Vine is a vigorous climber with tendrils and can easily become a good privacy screen with the use of a trellis or other support.

Prefers loamy and moist soils with good drainage. Water regularly during the first year to aid the plant in establishing a strong root system, frequency can be cut back once established. Most all-purpose fertilizers will work for this plant, give it something to lean on such as a trellis or arbor. Cold hardy to 25 degrees Fahrenheit, protect it from temperatures below that.
