    Description

    A beautiful trailing herbaceous perennial with long, narrowly oval, stunning purple foliage accented by small pale purple flowers in summer. Plant in light shade or part sun in most soil types and water regularly or occasionally. Leaf color varies with the amount of sun and water. Brighter light will have best color results. In frost free gardens, use as ground cover or in rock gardens where it is considered hardy and evergreen. In colder areas, the plant will freeze back and is root hardy to 10F degrees. Great in patio containers or can be grown as a trailing house plant. The stems are fragile to touch and will break if brushed against or walked on but the plant grows rapidly and covers up damage quickly. Surprisingly drought tolerant for such a tropical looking plant.

    Plant care

    This plant can handle most soil types but prefers neutral, well-draining soil. Leaf color can be variable so in order to get the most vibrant shade of purple, plant in full sun. Water regularly during the first year to aid the plant in establishing a strong root system, frequency can be reduced once established.
