Lavandula x intermedia 'Phenomenal' is an exceptional Lavandin cultivar, prized for its fragrance, compact, rounded habit, winter hardiness, disease resistance, and tolerance to drought, extreme heat, and humidity. A prolific bloomer and easy to grow, 'Phenomenal' is a versatile lavender with aromatic foliage and flowers that serve many purposes. It’s perfect for fresh and dried floral arrangements, sachets, and attracting pollinators like butterflies and bees, making it an excellent choice for herb gardens, borders, and rock gardens.

A French hybrid lavender patented under the name Lavandula ‘Niko’, ‘Phenomenal’ is a mutation of Lavandula ‘Grosso’ and boasts a more compact form. Praised for its consistent growth with uniform, mounding habit and silvery foliage, ‘Phenomenal’ does not dieback in the center of the plant unlike some other lavenders. Its fragrant, long-lasting, 5-inch flower spikes of lavender-blue bloom from late spring through late summer on 12-inch long stems.

How large does Phenomenal Lavender grow?
It typically reaches about 2 to 3 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide, forming a rounded, silvery-green mound topped with fragrant purple blooms.
What kind of light does it prefer?
Full sun is essential for strong growth and abundant flowering. It should receive at least six hours of direct sunlight daily.
What type of soil does it need?
It prefers well-drained, slightly alkaline soil. Sandy or rocky soils work best—avoid clay or overly moist conditions that can cause root rot.
How should it be watered and maintained?
Water deeply but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering is the most common cause of failure. Prune lightly in spring after new growth appears to maintain shape and encourage flowering.
