Description

Olives are beautiful evergreen trees that have traditionally been sought after for their fruits. Olea ‘Mission’ is a dual purpose olive variety used for oil production and curing. The Mission olive is more cold resistant that any cultivar in California.

Plant care

Olives are highly adaptable trees and can tolerate a variety of soil types but perform best in slightly alkaline soils with good drainage. Water deeply and regularly after planting until roots are established then reduce frequency. Monthly deep watering should be adequate in California once the trees are established. Heat and drought tolerant once established. Plant in a location with at least 8 hours of full sun. Use a balanced fertilizer in spring. Prune to remove dead, damaged, or crossed branches.
