Description

A handsome warm-season, Big Muhly Grass, also known as Lindheimer's Muhly Grass is finely textured clumping grass with soft, narrow and arching blue-green foliage. Persistent, arching amber-colored flower spikes rise 2 ft. above the foliage in fall. The attractive tall, sturdy, clumps look best in perennial borders, groupings, or on slopes. Native to Mexico & Texas this grass is winter dormant in colder climates, semi-dormant in mild climates. Best with regular water but will tolerate drought.

Plant care

Adaptable to most soil types, as long as it has good drainage. Water regularly during the first year to aid the plant in establishing a strong root system, frequency can be cut back once established. Semi-deciduous in mild climates and can be hard-pruned before new foliage emerges in the late winter/early spring.
