Dietes vegeta (D. grandiflora)(D. iridioides)(Moraea iridioides) is a vigorous evergreen with clumps of long, upright, narrow, dark green leaves. Small, Iris-like white flowers with gold markings on the outer petals and three inner petals of violet appear spring-fall in flushes of nearly two-week intervals resulting in the common name of fortnight lily. Drought tolerant in shady gardens, and tolerates coastal conditions. Blooms best with regular watering. Attractive in mass plantings, in patio containers, or as a solitary accent plant.
