Boxwoods are grown for their small, neat, leathery leaves and dense long-lived growth habits. English Boxwood (Buxus sempervirens) is a tough, bushy, rounded shrub with oval to oblong, glossy, dark green leaves. Best in USDA zones 5-8, English Boxwood remains a popular topiary or hedge plant because of its small evergreen leaves and tolerance for close shearing. English Boxwood Globe, if not pruned, will grow out of its round shape, and could grow up to 10 ft. tall and wide.
