The Blenheim Royal apricot is a popular, freestone, all-purpose variety that is equally valuable for canning, drying, or fresh eating. This is the #1 apricot tree grown in California. Known as 'Royal' or 'Blenheim', its sweet, aromatic, flavorful fruit has soft yellow skin and orange cheek. Flesh is pale orange and juicy. Early bloom. Ripens late June to early July. 400 chill hours required. Self-fruitful.
Prefers loamy, moist and slight acidic soil with good drainage. Water regularly during the first year to aid the plant in establishing a strong root system, frequency should be cut back once established. Fertilize in the early spring before the flowers emerge and remove dead wood and prune to maintain the desired size. In late Spring, thin out the crop to prevent early fruit drop and overbearing.
