Aristocrat Pear Tree
Pyrus calleryana ‘Aristocrat’
This amazing flowering tree explodes into a dazzling cloud of pure white blossoms every spring! The Aristocrat Flowering Pear, also known as the Aristocrat Callery Pear, is a thornless, fruitless variety with a pyramid-shaped, uniform canopy of glossy green, wavy leaves. The long stems allow the leaves to dance in the breeze, adding an extra layer of movement to the landscape. With its stunning white blossoms, vibrant fall color, and year-round interest, Pyrus calleryana ‘Aristocrat’ is an excellent choice for a shade tree, perfect as an accent tree, or for bordering a driveway or walkway.
Aristocrat Pear is a fast-growing deciduous tree with wider-angled branches and better structural strength than other callery pear varieties. Its beautiful spring flowers give way to narrow, heart-shaped green leaves that turn deep red in the fall. Under optimal conditions, ‘Aristocrat’ ornamental pear tree grows 2 to 3 feet per year.
Planting - Aristocrat Flowering Pear trees prefer moist, well-drained loam soil, but can tolerate and adapt to a variety of soil conditions, including alkaline and clay, loam, sandy, and acidic. It also tolerates occasionally wet soil, soil compaction, and pollution. Plant in a location that receives full sun, with at least 6 hours of sunlight per day.
Watering - Water regularly, especially during the first few years after planting until your tree establishes a good root system. Applying a rich organic mulch around the base of the tree will help retain soil moisture and encourage healthy growth.
Pruning - Requires minimal maintenance. Prune as needed to remove damaged or overgrown branches or to maintain the desired shape.
Winter Hardiness - Hardy to -10°F, and grows best in USDA zones 5-9, Pyrus calleryana ‘Aristocrat’ can be grown with extra care in zone 10.
