Westringia fruticosa 'Morning Light' is a small compact shrub with tightly crowded, short linear variegated leaves with a creamy yellow tint. The small white flowers are the same as those of Westringia fruticosa. The common name of coast rosemary refers to the leaf shape resemblance of Rosmarinus, but Westringia is not edible nor fragrant like the common rosemary. 'Morning Light' will tolerate moderately dry growing conditions but looks best with supplemental watering in late spring and summer. Can also be used in well-drained moist soils. Plant in full sun or in bright filtered light. Hardy shrub for inland or coastal situations, tolerant of salt spray. Excellent low hedge. Great landscape shrub.
Requires soil with good drainage. Water regularly after planting until roots are established then reduce frequency and water as needed. Prune tips lightly after flowering or prune regularly to maintain tidier shape for dense formal look.
