Agapanthus africanus ‘Albus’ is an evergreen perennial with broad, arching strap-shaped green leaves that grow in large clumps. Pure white flower clusters bloom atop tall erect stalks growing to a height of 30-36 inches. In colder areas, White Lily of the Nile makes a good container plant, but in milder winters it adds year round interest in outdoor beds.
Plant in well-draining soil. Water regularly during the first year to aid the plant in establishing a strong root system, frequency can be reduced once established. Remove spent flowers to promote more flowering, and can be cut back to basal foliage after the bloom period. Give it an All-Purpose fertilizer in the Spring. Best left undisturbed but can be divided if the area gets overcrowded.
