With striking multicolored white and red flowers Salvia microphylla 'Hot Lips' is perfect to bring a radiant splash to the garden. The wonderful sage has fragrant foliage on an upright, brightly-flowered shrub 18-24” tall. Drought and heat tolerant, Salvia ‘Hot Lips’ can be used in many garden styles such as California Native, Mediterranean, and Water-wise. Also perfect in the pollinator garden to attract hummingbirds and butterflies. Mix with other salvias of varying texture and height to create an eye-catching display.
Grows best in fast-draining soils. Water regularly after planting to establish roots then reduce frequency. Mild drought tolerance. Fertilize in early spring. Prune lightly after the first flowering flush to encourage more blooms. In fall, prune to maintain shape.
