Description

Cercis canadensis is a deciduous flowering tree sold as multi-trunk or standard tree form. Stunning rosy-pink flowers bloom profusely on bare branches in early spring before the new leaves emerge from dormancy. Brown seed pods, 2-4 inch long, mature in the summer and persist into winter. Green heart-shaped leaves turn yellow in autumn. Eastern Redbud is low-maintenance and looks beautiful as a street tree, foundation planting, border, or as an accent plant in a woodland garden.

Plant care

Requires well drained, sandy loam soil. Water regularly after planting until roots are established then reduce frequency and water as needed. Benefits from some shade in hotter climates.
