'Dorsett Golden' is an outstanding sweet apple for warm winter areas. Medium to large yellow-skinned fruits with an orange-red blush ripen in mid-June to early July. Firm, smooth, crisp flesh with sweet-flavor. Productive throughout Southern California. A good early-season sweet apple for Central California. Requires 250 chill hours. Self-fruitful. A good pollinizer for 'Anna'.
Prefers loamy and moist soil with good drainage. Water regularly during the first year to aid the plant in establishing a strong root system, frequency should be cut back once established. Fertilize in the early spring before the flowers emerge and remove dead wood and prune to maintain the desired size. In late Spring, thin out the crop to prevent early fruit drop and overbearing.
