Description

A cool-season grass that forms spreading clumps of stiff, upright, powdery blue-grey leaves. New foliage emerges green. 'Canyon Prince' is shorter than the species, and spreads more slowly than L. arenarius 'Glaucus'. This grass generally grows 3' high but may be taller with regular watering. Straw-colored, narrow flower spikes, when produced, are elevated on tall erect stalks well above the foliage. A selection made from specimens native to the Channel Islands. Selectively remove rhizomes along edge of planting to control spreading or use in planters, containers, or with physical barriers to restrict spread.

Plant care

Cut back once a year, before new growth emerges, to keep a tidy appearance. New growth might appear bright green but should fade as it matures. Overwatering can make it appear limp and flattened.
